2nd Barry M. Gray Memorial Tournament

WHAT:

4 Rounds "Unrated" G/20 (Each round can last up to 40 minutes).

Every round your child's "pairing" (The specific board they will play on, their opponent's name, and which color pieces they will use for the game) will be posted online at acrosstheboardchess.com or via "print" on-site.

United States Chess Federation(USCF) RULES WILL BE BRIEFLY INTRODUCED & USED DURING THE EVENT.

WHEN:

Saturday, November 22nd, 2025. 1st Round starts at 10am. All activities will have ended by 2:30pm.

WHERE:

Gresham Park Recreation Center ~ 3113 Gresham Rd S E, Atlanta, GA 30316

WHO:

Any student Kindergarten through 12th grade who can move all of the pieces as well as recognize "checkmate" may compete in this event. This event is intended for players who are rated under 1000 USCF or those who have not yet competed in tournaments "rated" by the United States Chess Federation(USCF).

HOW:

Arrive at the playing site by 9:30 am on the day of the event and remain at the site, with your child, until they finish their last game. Players under 10 years of age should be accompanied by at least one parent/guardian. Players will not be monitored by tournament staff outside of the Playing Hall. Parents will not be allowed in the playing hall while games are in progress.

Snacks will be provided to players.

The event will be filmed, and by participating in the event you consent to the filmed/captured content being used as we see fit. We'll provide all of the boards and pieces. Please bring a chess clock if you have one.

PRIZES:

1st, 2nd & 3rd place trophy for each section (K-5; Middle School; High School).

Note: Sections will be merged if there are fewer than 4 players in any section by the start of the 1st round.

REGISTRATION:

$30 online by November 21st 2025, afterwards is $40. Registration closes November 22nd at 9:30am.
